Also, today we went to Best Buy and bought a $1,200 tripod. Or rather, we spent $1,200 and walked out with a tripod. But. We've got something exciting to pickup on Sunday. And it just might go along with the tripod..... ;)

Family Vacays
Growing up, we camped. A LOT. This is how I felt every time we got home from a two week trip with the entire family crammed in a minivan and the pop-up camper behind us.

By the time I was a teenager, I was the kid in the family that openly boycotted camping and made sure everyone knew how much I was NOT enjoying myself. Don't tell my dad, but I secretly kind of miss it now.
Enjoy your weekend my friends.

My Last Monday at Work as a Single Gal
wooooooooo! That's the thought that got me out of bed when the alarm went off this A.M.
And how precious is this? If I had about 28 more little girls in my family, I would totally rock this. Adorable.

From Southern Weddings. One of my favs.
Happy Monday to all!

e-pics!!!!
I was scrambling around Wednesday morning, trying to get packed to leave town for Thanksgiving when I quickly opened my email. Buried in between 37 emails from JCrew (really JC, I love you but the email overload is killing me) I saw an email saying our photographer Brooks had posted some of our engagement pictures on Facebook. I dropped my pile of laundry I was in the process of folding/packing and plopped down at the computer. Umm... yay!!!!!
Here are our favs that he posted on the 'Book. Below each, a narration of what was going down during the (super fun but slightly awkward at times) photo shoot!

Yes, here we are canoodling in front of a birdbath, on the one and only busy street in Muenster, where we took the pics. Cars were driving by staring, while Mark and I snuggled and laughed and acted like we always hung out with our faces two inches apart.

This one could not have come out more perfect. Love. It.

This one took some serious work. Turns out Longhorns aren't that cooperative and don't always want to pop their head out from under the fence and smile at the camera. Behind the scenes action included my dad running around pouring out range cubes (read: Longhorn Treats) on the grass in strategic places, our photographer laying on the ground tasting said range cubes, and Mark and I once again canoodling like none of this was out of the ordinary and hoping desperately to not get poked by a set of horns! The results? Pretty much amazing.

"Oh yes, we were just out working on the farm and now we are just resting against this here rusty gate as the sun sets behind us."

Looooove this one! Love it. This was taken through the gate that leads down the road to my parents' place. Perfect mix of Texas flair and a bit o' romance.

Now this one may be my fav. What you can't tell is that Mark is totally sweating/shaking/straining to hold me up as we gaze at each other and smile. I guess running around and twirling me in the fields isn't in his normal work out regime. What would have thought?
We are thrilled with how these and all the others came out. I've got some great Save the Date's in the works using some of them, and we know just what the parents are getting for Christmas this year - framed pictures of us (and perhaps a few cows)!

Engagement Photos!
We (finally) took our engagement photos!
After a week of absolutely gorgeous weather (As in sunny and 72 degrees. In November. Thank you, Texas weather), I was stalking the forecast for our rescheduled e-pic photo shoot. There was talk of a cold front coming in the day before, and possibly some wind and light rain. I prayed in church the weekend before for this storm to hold off just one more day (judge me if you must, but we really did need to get these photos taken and off the To-Do List!) and was thrilled when we got up to Muenster around lunch time yesterday and it was still warm and sunny.
After some quick showers and sprucing-up on our part, Brooks and Leigh, from Brooks Whittington Photography, showed up at my parents’ place for the shoot. I had a couple places scoped out that we wanted to take photos at, so we made a quick game plan on where we’d go first. Much to my surprise, Brooks already knew about the photos I loved and even knew about my steal-of-a-deal white dress! Turns out, he’s came across my blog and had read about my inspiration pics (umm.. hi Brooks!).
So we headed to downtown Muenster to get started. It was a little awkward at first, because there are so many people everywhere, staring at us, while we canoodled outside of the bank. And the grocery store. And some restaurants. We had some pretty serious gawkers - one guy driving by even came to a stop on the road in front of us to stare. Maybe he thought we were celebrities? A few frantic outfit changes in the car later, and we ended the day taking pictures at my parents' house, as the sun was setting and the longhorns were eating. Yup, eating. I'm really curious/excited to see how they turn out! Brooks would show us a few of them on his camera screen every now and then, and they all looked fabulous! He told us it would take about a week and a half to get them all edited and up online and even said he really wanted to get me one to post here on my blog. Thanks Brooks and Leigh for a fun shoot! I'm counting down the days until we get to see the pictures!

The Details
I would like to clarify. I did not change the tire last week. I got out of my car and said about 381 Oh My God's while Kelly kept saying "it's okay, it's okay." To which I replied "Oh my god." Then, after about 2.5 minutes of this, before the shock could wear off and before the tears could really start, my guardian angel appeared. He drove a red pick up truck and wore a work shirt with his name embroidered on it.
David.

David quickly got to work finding my jack (beats me where it was?), taking off the tire, getting my spare down from under the car, and whipping it back on the car. All while Kelly and I cracked jokes on the side of the road. David got really dirty and covered in grease and other car goop. Luckily the entire back of my 4Runner was filled with nine bags of clothing I've been hauling around for the last month, meaning to take to Good Will. So I passed him my 2002 Delta Gamma Anchorsplash shirt to wipe his hands on. I told him he could keep it. I owed him.

About ten minutes into David's tire changing extravaganza, another pick up pulled up behind us. It was another friendly guy, checking to make sure we were okay. I told him David seemed to have it under control, but he hung around and watched anyways. I think he wanted to be in on the excitement. Once the spare was on, he jumped out with his air pressure gauge tool and checked the air pressure. It was so low it didn't even register. So he advised that I drive the three miles to Crobsytown and put some air in it. This I knew how to do. But I didn't have the little tool thingy, so he gladly gave me his. I told him I owed him one, the next time I saw him. So on we went on our way. Once we got to the gas station in town, I got out to put some air in the tire. David showed up a few minutes later, just to make sure we were still doing okay.

All the while through this saga, Kelly and I are on our phones, giving the boyfriends, brother and dad a play-by-play. It went something like this: "yes, we are changing the tire now. or um... he is changing it." Mark felt bad that I was stranded on the side of the road, but was more bummed out because he had a sore throat and a cough (gee thanks.) Wes was panicking about these two guys who had stopped to help us ("how old are they?! do they look like they are going to kill ya'll?") My brother just laughed at us. And my Dad wasn't concerned at all that his two daughters were alone on the side of the road in the literal middle of nowhere, a mere 30 minutes away from darkness. He said once he heard that we were in West Texas he wasn't worried because "people are nice in West Texas."
So, thanks to some help from a couple Good Samaritans, we survived the ordeal and got to Lubbock with a story to tell. On the drive back, we found the exact hill where the tire blew and waved good riddance. As the say, happiness is Lubbock, Texas in my rear view mirror.

Whew

During the past 6 weeks at work, my office put on 15 events. I worked every weekend in September and a handful of Tuesday and Thursday nights as well. This week I am celebrating surviving with a 3 day work week. Hello long weekend!
How bout them Longhorns! I love beating OU! Just as soon as the game was over, this guy quickly stripped off his burnt orange to show his true colors. I can't complain. This is only the second time ever that I've gotten him to wear a Texas shirt. We're excited to head to Austin in two weeks when our schools play each other. We should both still be undefeated, which always makes for a fun match-up!
