Food for Thought

Mark and I have been cooking more and eating out less here lately, much to the appreciation of our wallets and our waistlines. Along with this, we decided a couple months ago to "train" for the Race for the Cure 5K that is on October 20. By train, I mean that we try to run together 2-3 times per week, with the goal of getting up to a steady three mile run with no walk breaks. This was a lofty goal for me, seeing as how i have never in my life been a runner. Mark tricked me into believing this was also quite the feat for him. That is until he informed me last week that he is now training for a half marathon because a puny 5K is just too easy for him. We still go running together, but he laps me around the block now. So much for completing that 5K together...

Anyways, we've been cooking up all kinds of tasty new meals, like these kabobs we made a few weeks back. As you can tell by my stunning attire, this was just after one of our runs. The veggies on those skewers were homegrown by some of my parents' neighbors. This could be the best thing we've eaten so far. Tonight we're making turkey burgers and hitting up Mark's neighborhood for our trek.
